Pomerita Punch

Serves 10

This antioxidant rich, pitcher-perfect drink is fortified with tequila, or mezcal for added smokiness and sweetened naturally with fresh pomegranate juice and a touch of honey.

½ cup honey syrup

½ cup lemon juice

3 cups (1 bottle) tequila or mezcal

1 cup pomegranate juice

crushed jalapeno slices or use a spicy tequila such as Ghost (optional)

Mix the honey syrup (1:1, honey: water) with the lemon juice thoroughly, then combine all the ingredients except the garnishes in a punch bowl with ice and garnish with fresh pomegranate and citrus slices.

PRO TIP: If you'd like to low proof this recipe without compromising the integrity and balance of the drink, try cutting the high proof tequila with a manzanilla sherry or dry vermouth in equal measures.

Pomegranatecontains more than one hundred phytochemicals, is a good source of fiber as well as vitamins A, C, some B vitamins, and contains minerals such as calcium, potassium, and iron. My name is Mark McMillian and you may have heard my name thrown around a certain sports network before. Basically... after retiring from an eight year NFL career, I have been blessed with the platform to Coach, mentor, and work with athletes from across the country. I love helping these athletes navigate through the recruiting process, and enjoy mentoring younger kids as well - working in several group homes and detention centers.
I have also found a passion for BBQ, Bourbon and Barbells...

Just like Champagne and other fine wines, tequila is a drink that takes its name from its region of origin. And like fine wines, the unique characteristics of tequila can be traced back, quite literally, to its roots. The appellation, and the environment within it, the terroir, are integral to the quality of Corazón Tequila’s agave, all of which comes from appellations in Jalisco, Mexico, known as the best agave-growing region for tequila. Here, the soil is rich in iron oxide and the extreme temperatures of the warm days and cool nights create a climate where it takes longer for the agave to mature. It is the quality of the agave and its juice that creates the foundation of superiority found within our tequila.

Alcohol absolutely has calories but it is unlike any of the other macronutrients in that it has 7 calories per gram where protein and carbs have 4 and fat has 9 calories per gram. What I want to teach you is how to convert those calories into something you can track.

We would love to hear from you!
